  • MP and MLA’s will be disqualified: The Supreme Court struck down as ultra vires a provision of the Representation of the People Act. This act protects convicted lawmakers against disqualification on the ground of pendency of appeal against their conviction in the higher courts. 
  • Mulayam Singh Yadav challenges Narendra Modi in context with election: Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav dared Gujarat chief minister and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) chairperson Narendra Modi to contest next Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh. 
  • Donald Trumph introduces first real-estate project in India: Business tycoon and celebrity Donald Trumph has announced “Trump Organisation’s first project in India, Trump Towers Pune, which is a 22-storied twin towers with 44 luxurious single floor condominiums.

  • Indian Institute of Technology-769 students refuse to join: It is a typical rare situation where even general category seats in various IITs across the country have remained vacant after the first round of admission.
  • Singur land leasehold rights: The Supreme Court asked Tata Motors to make its stand patent on its leasehold rights over the Singur land in the wake of changed scenario as the company had already moved its car plant out of West Bengal.
  • FlipKart raises $ 200 million in Indian e-commerce space: This is the single largest round of investment in the Indian e-commerce space as online retailer Flipkart has raised $200 million (about Rs 1,200 crore) from its existing investors like Naspers, the South African internet major that recently bought out bus ticketing startup redBus, private equity firms Accel Partners and Tiger Global, and San Francisco-based family office Iconiq Capital. 
  • On the basis of inflation outstripping interest rates, holders of fixed deposits have been earning a negative return in real terms for most of the preceding five years. 
  • Moon Venus proximity tonight:  Expert’s said that on Wednesday night, the moon and Venus will ‘appear’ closest to each other at 11.48pm. Named ‘moon in conjunction with Venus’, the celestial event will show Venus on the right hand side of the crescent-shaped moon.
  • GSM industry body COAI chairman Himanshu Kampania has said the mobile region cannot sustain future investments with present low margins. 
  • Apple Amazon settle dispute: Apple began selling applications for mobile devices via its App Store service in July 2008 and Amazon launched Amazon Appstore for Android in March 2011 because they have ended their lawsuit.
