All India banks strike from tomorrow

All-India Bank Employees Association secretary Vishwas Utagi has confirmed that almost a million bank employees all over the country will go on a two-day strike from tomorrow (wednesday).

It is to protest against the government for making a move to amend the banking laws bill. According to the bank association, the bill aims at merger, unrestricted voting rights, entry of private and foreign capital and granting licences to corporate houses to start banks.

Government bans more than 250 websites

The central government has ordered blocking of more than 250 websites in which morphed images and videos were uploaded to incite Muslims leading to a mass departure of people belonging to northeast from Karnataka and other states. So far, about 130 websites have been blocked and more will be blocked soon.

Since this has become the biggest instance of cyber warfare, the Government of India is planning to take up the CERT—In (Computer Emergency Response Team—India) findings at the international forum. As per the findings, the online content started getting posted from July 13 and several fake profiles were created in the social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for posting morphed pictures and videos.
