ITC to launch greenfield project in Sri Lanka
ITC is all set to spread its wings across the country, and it is also in the process of launching its maiden venture in Sri Lanka.
It was informed by the ITC Ltd Chairman Y. C. Deveshwar after the inauguration of ITC Grand Chola, which is a super-premium integrated luxury hotel complex on Saturday. This hotel is accredited as the world’s largest LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum rated in the new construction category.
Annual growth target scaled down
On Saturday, the annual average economic growth target was scaled down from 9% to 8.2%, after the draft 12th Five-Year Plan document was approved by the Full Planning Commission chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. This has been done keeping in view the fragile economic conditions, so that inclusive growth can be achieved.
- The draft document will have to be vetted by the Union Cabinet.
- Then it will be placed for final approval before the National Development Council (NDC), which is the country’s highest decision-making body.
NDC comprises of the Chief Ministers of all States and Union Territories, and the Full Planning Commission.
3 more coal mines to be cancelled
The Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) recommended the cancellation of 3 more mines, thus taking the total number of blocks suggested for cancellation to seven.
