First ever common MBBS test

Next year, on May 5, the Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct its first-ever common entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses across the country .

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will cater to admissions in all the government and private medical and dental colleges across the country. The admissions will be entirely based on the merit list. This test will substitute all the previous medicat tests including the All India PMT, and as such around 10 lakh students are expected to appear for the same.

Prime Minister to lay foundation stone for Kochi Metro

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be laying the foundation stone for the Kochi Metro Rail Project today. It will be a 25 km long Aluva-MG Road-Pettah metro corridor, which is all set to provide the city with a mass rapid transport system by 2016.

Dune to enter India

The London-based luxury footwear brand Dune will now enter India in partnership with the retail arm of India’s Reliance Industries.

Agartala to be a ‘solar city’

On wednesday an announcement came from the Tripura government on its ambitious plans to make Agartala a ‘solar city’. The plan is to replace at least 10 percent of usual power use by solar energy in order to reduce dependency on conventional energy. The plan includes the installation of solar water heaters in all hotels, nursing homes, solar street lights for the entire city and solar caps or torches for students.

A master plan of Rs.452.32 crore has been undertaken for this project. So far, over 66,000 hot water plants have been installed across Tripura.
