World’s Smallest 3D map of the Globe created – Nano Cartography
A miniature world map created by the IBM researchers as ‘nano-world’ has set a record in the Guinness Book and has been accepted as the world’s smallest 3D map. The map is as small as 22 by 11 micormeters, which means as many as 1,000 maps of this size could be contained in just 1 grain of salt.
The map was written on a polymer and is composed of 500,000 pixels, each measuring 20 by 2 nanometers and was created in just 2 minutes and 23 seconds. This map can only be seen through a microscope, but the new technology behind it is all set to open a new era in the industry.
